Core Values
  • Holy Spirit  / Spiritual Gifts

The Word of God:

Sola Scriptura! the sole authority for the follower of Jesus relating to faith and salvation. The Bible is the inspired, infallible and only authoritative written Word of God. It was supernaturally inspired without error in the original manuscripts and preserved by God in its verbal inspiration so that it is a divinely authoritative standard for every age and every life. All scripture is God breathed (II Tim 3:16,17) the bible is living and active..

Faith based Prayer:

We believe in standing in the gap (Ezekiel 20) for those living without the good news of Jesus Christ in urban Portland.  Without our commitment to prayer and fasting all our efforts to penetrate our community will be minable. We believe in the power and privilege of prayer and fasting as the Lord leads on an individual and corporate level, in both formal and informal settings to accomplish Kingdom work.  In summary, prayer and fasting are absolutely indispensable to be effective in the work of Jesus. (Matthew 6:16-18)

Authentic Worship:

Our weekly celebrations are designed to personally meet Jesus as a body and worship Him in Spirit and Truth.  We acknowledge the indispensable work of the Holy Spirit in each believer's life, who has a genuine saving faith in Christ, and to greatly assist us in the application of this core value.  We encourage a balance of praise, testimonies, communion, healing and the sharing of Gods Word.

Life Transforming Discipleship and Mentorship:

A world filled with pain & suffering often imposes a barrier to becoming a follower of Jesus.  To address the challenge, we emphasize a relational approach, utilizing personal mentorships, helping those who are entrusted in our care to knowing how to apply the Word of God, as well as being transparent and authentic where we are at in our own personal relationship with Jesus.

Multi-Ethnic & Multi-Generational Evangelism:

A characteristic of the urban setting is the variety of races in the city of Portland and abroad.  The redemption / transformation that comes from Jesus and finished work on the cross also extends to racial reconciliation.  The church is a demonstration of how Gods love extends to people of all ages, all races and all backgrounds. The Bible over and over tells of Gods love and must be demonstrated, lived out and communicated in actions that speak to the needs of everyone.

Missions:

The challenge of making followers of Jesus of all nations includes bringing the goodnews of Jesus Christ across cultural barriers both in our own city and country, as well as abroad. Short-term and long-term missions are both strategic ways by which we can bring others into a relationship with Jesus. (Matt. 24:14)

 FOUNDATIONAL TRUTHS

  • The Bible is the inspired, infallible and only authoritative written Word of God.

It was supernaturally inspired without error in the original manuscripts and preserved by God in its verbal inspiration so that it is a divinely authoritative standard for every age and every life. All scripture is God breathed (II Tim 3:16) the bible is living and active.

  • There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (Matt. 28:19)

  • God is sinless, He is infinitely perfect, and there is no other gods before him or after him. (Deut. 6:4)

  • Without the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, there would be no Christianity. It would be just another religion. Without the shedding of Christ blood, there would be no forgiveness of sins. Salvation only comes through Jesus Christ dying on the cross for our sins and his Resurrection. By an individual believing upon Christ, he/she can come into right relationship with God thru repentance. Christ is our atonement.

  • The Holy Spirit is part of the Godhead.  He is the third person of the Trinity. The spirit of God. When we receive Christ, the Holy Spirit comes into our spirit (whole being). The Holy Spirit is to guide, be our helper, comforter, to empower and convict the believer as well as the unbeliever of sin and where we fall short.

(Matt. 28:18-19)

Our worship is informal and spontaneous.  It is based on worshiping in Spirit and in Truth.  We believe that the people are the church, not the building.
